\u2022 Youth Empowerment Synergy (YES-Ghana) is an ECOSOC-accredited NGO at the forefront of youth development policy, practice and research in Ghana. For more than 15 years, we have provided tailored skills training for youth, leading to improvements in their leadership, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and life planning skills. Through our service delivery, we have provided education, skills training, and technical support to thousands of youth and helped them transition to self and wage employment. Our research has contributed to filling the gap in youth data and the evidence base for public policy. And, we continue to use our national appeal and grassroots constituency, through our Voices of Youth Coalition, to advocate and campaign for youth-inclusive policies at all levels. We are entering an exciting phase of growth at YES-Ghana and are looking for new people to help take us forwards.<\/p>\n

Purpose of the role:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 As a Driver, you will assist YES-Ghana to carry out project activities by providing safe transportation and general logistics support to teams, including vehicle security and maintenance, administrative support, organisational development, relationship building and representation, and other duties.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

i. Driving<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Drive vehicle for official travel and business, or as requested by supervisor
\n\u2022 Maintain high standard of service to both internal staff and external guests
\n\u2022 Ensure punctuality and safe transportation
\n\u2022 Observe the road and traffic laws and regulations of the Republic of Ghana
\n\u2022 Ensure strict adherence to safe driving practices including driving codes and standards
\n\u2022 Ensure that no alcohol is consumed or present whilst on duty<\/p>\n

ii. Vehicle security & maintenance<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensure vehicle is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times
\n\u2022 Ensure vehicle is kept secure at all times
\n\u2022 Ensure vehicle is given regular\/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc
\n\u2022 Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly based official manufacturer\u2019s specifications
\n\u2022 Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs; prepare vehicle spare parts inventory
\n\u2022 Prepare and submit vehicle monitoring report, including keeping log books and other records of vehicle operations, trips, fuel consumption, oil changes, expenses, and mileage at the end of each month
\n\u2022 Assist the Finance & Administration Manager to ensure vehicle insurance and registration are renewed on schedule
\n\u2022 Prepare budget plan for vehicle use and maintenance
\n\u2022 Assist in the purchase of new vehicles as required<\/p>\n

iii. Administrative support<\/strong><\/p>\n

Provide administrative assistance to project teams, including, but not limited to:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2022 Photocopying, filing, handling mail, delivering goods and correspondences, carrying parcels, packages, and delivery and collection of official documents as required
\n\u2022 Assisting in organising and maintaining the library system; arranging meetings, training and workshop activities
\n\u2022 Maintaining office storage space (ensuring it is clean, secure, dry and orderly)<\/p>\n

iv. Organisational development<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Participate in team building activities of YES-Ghana and contribute to the development and
\npromotion of the organisation\u2019s values and learning approach as required<\/p>\n

v. Relationship building & representation<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Participate in external workshops, working groups, training and other meetings relevant to YES-
\nGhana\u2019s safe driving standards
\n\u2022 Establish appropriate information-sharing relationships with staff in similar positions within
\npartner organisations and transportation service providers
\n\u2022 Manage YES-Ghana\u2019s relationship with other drivers and car rental companies, ensuring driving
\nstandards, passenger safety requirements and driver courtesy and punctuality are achieved<\/p>\n

vi. Other duties<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Other duties may be required from time to time, including responsibilities which require work on
\nweekends and holidays for which time off in lieu (TOIL) may be taken<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Person specification:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2022 Minimum Senior High School certificate required
\n\u2022 Valid driving license Class B or above required
\n\u2022 Holder of qualification in vehicle maintenance and repairs desirable
\n\u2022 Understanding of transportation law and road traffic regulations required
\n\u2022 Minimum 5 years\u2019 experience as driver with excellent driving skills and record required
\n\u2022 Experience driving 4\u00d74 cross country vehicles desirable
\n\u2022 Good knowledge of car mechanics desirable
\n\u2022 Good traffic judgment essential
\n\u2022 Experience driving to remote locations on project field trips and driving off the road in difficult conditions essential
\n\u2022 Effective communication skills with internal teams and external partners essential
\n\u2022 Flexible, effective teamwork and interpersonal skills essential
\n\u2022 Knowledge of operating and maintenance of office equipment desirable
\n\u2022 Proven ability to be well-organised, systematic, careful, accountable, responsible and punctual
\n\u2022 A team player \u2013 personable, caring, helpful, reliable, diplomatic, honest and approachable
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to be discreet and respectful of confidentiality
\n\u2022 Good personal grooming & personal presentation essential
\n\u2022 Willing to work long and irregular hours, shift duty and on public holidays as may be required
\n\u2022 Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel applications, as well as electronic messaging
\n\u2022 Proficiency in written and spoken English required; working knowledge of Ga, Twi and\/or Ewe would be an advantage<\/p>\n
