Ethical Apparel Africa (EAA) is a sourcing company that provides international apparel brands\u00a0with ethical, cost competitive and quality manufacturing solutions in West Africa. Our vision is to<\/p>\n

demonstrate that ethical manufacturing can and should be done at scale, not just associated\u00a0with luxury or expensive products. Based in Ghana and Benin, EAA has a dynamic team<\/p>\n

bringing decades of experience from around the world in product development, quality\u00a0assurance, account management, social impact, operations and finance.<\/p>\n

EAA is working to unlock the tremendous potential of the West Africa apparel industry,\u00a0supporting African-owned factories to grow exports to the US, UK, and Europe. EAA focuses on<\/p>\n

developing factories in a lean, sustainable, and ethical way that sets the standard for garment\u00a0manufacturing in a West African context. We work closely with government and development\u00a0agencies to develop an ecosystem for industrial growth \u2014 including the launch of a Center of<\/p>\n

Excellence for local skill development and efforts to catalyze investment in an integrated cotton\u00a0value chain. By 2023 we aim to create 2,500 worthwhile jobs in the apparel sector in West\u00a0Africa. This is an exciting time to join EAA.<\/p>\n

\u200bPosition overview<\/b><\/p>\n

We have a great opportunity for a committed and talented person willing to contribute to build a\u00a0new and ethical industry to join us as HR and Administration Associate in Accra. They would lead\u00a0on the human resources and administration functions of EAA, ensuring we are transparent,\u00a0accountable, and able to mitigate risks as it moves forward. The role will involve maintaining\u00a0oversight of human resource strategy and policy management, local staff recruitment and global\u00a0staff induction, compliance and risks management as well as administration. They are\u00a0committed and talented individuals who will be part of our Management. The HR Associate\u00a0would report to the HR and Social Impact Director based in France with a dotted line to the\u00a0Operations and Finance Director based in Accra.<\/p>\n

They will have the following responsibilities:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u200bResponsibilities\u200b<\/b><\/p>\n

Recruitment and Onboarding<\/b><\/p>\n

\u25cf Take part in the recruitment of local talents for all departments (accounts\/brands\u00a0partnership, technical, operations and finance teams) by exploring new recruitment\u00a0channels and jobs advertising, screening initial applications and scheduling interviews.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Lead the logistics and administration process related to new team members onboarding\u00a0for expatriates (flight booking, airport pick up, initial and then permanent accommodation\u00a0facilitation, bank account opening etc)<\/p>\n

\u25cf Lead the onboarding of new team members including orientation to Accra and to team\u00a0systems for both Local and Expatriate team members.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Lead all administrative procedures related to immigration for expatriates (applications for\u00a0visas, work permit, non-citizen cards) and keep a rigorous system to anticipate needs\u00a0and remain compliant at all times.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Lead the relationship with local Health Insurance providers, renew contracts and support\u00a0the team in their claims if needed.<\/p>\n

Office management<\/b><\/p>\n

\u25cf Pro-actively lead office administrative processes and upkeep (service of H&S and fire\u00a0safety equipment, procurement of office utilities and stationery, maintenance of internet\u00a0connexion, electricity, water, ACs etc.).<\/p>\n

\u25cf Develop the HR and Operations budget accordingly and ensure that the same is\u00a0adequately provided for in annual budgetary projections.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Oversee the personal in charge of cleaning and security and flag any issue or needs to\u00a0the HR Director.<\/p>\n

Human Resource Policy Management<\/b><\/p>\n

\u25cf Update HR policies, SOPs and systems to the highest standards and ensure their\u00a0implementation in a fair, consistent and transparent manner to support the achievement\u00a0of EAA\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Ensure compliance to HR policies and procedures and support their dissemination.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Participate in discussions about structure and organisational development and change\u00a0that ensure continuous support and harmony within the team<\/p>\n

Compliance and HR Risks Management<\/b><\/p>\n

\u25cf Counsel employees on their terms and conditions of service, problems and grievances;\u00a0discuss staff issues with the HR Director (e.g. disciplinary, grievance) in line with the HR\u00a0policy and with relevant legal provisions to minimise all associated risks<\/p>\n

\u25cf Following the HR Director\u2019s guidance, implement action points and follow up the\u00a0implementation of audit actions points if any.\u200b<\/p>\n

Qualifications and Attributes<\/b><\/p>\n

\u25cf Degree in Human Resources Management from a reputable institution<\/p>\n

\u25cf Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a HR position<\/p>\n

\u25cf Knowledge of HR and Administration procedures and systems gained from working\u00a0experience<\/p>\n

\u25cf Knowledge and understanding of HR issues related to safeguarding, gender, equality\u00a0and diversity<\/p>\n

\u25cf Outstanding communication and leadership skills with ability to motivate and inspire\u00a0teams to achieve superior standards in all aspects of human resource management.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Demonstrated experience using sound judgment in resolving problems<\/p>\n

\u25cf Proven ability to establish priorities, plan, organise, coordinate and monitor own work plan<\/p>\n

\u25cf Ability to think critically, find solutions, work hard, learn and progress<\/p>\n

\u25cf Ability to work independently on self-directed projects with an entrepreneurial attitude<\/p>\n

\u25cf Passion for working in an enterprise with a social mission<\/p>\n

\u25cf Evidence of the following characteristics: proactive, self aware; resilient and adaptable;\u00a0persistent and resourceful; able to work under pressure and respect deadlines, apt at<\/p>\n
