Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Environmental Officer \u2013 Monitoring<\/strong><\/p>\n

About This Role:<\/strong><\/p>\n

To coordinate all environmental aspects relating to environmental monitoring to ensure all related environmental policies, procedures and standards, Ghanaian laws and regulations as well as Newmont Environmental Standards are complied with at all times.
\nIn This Role You Will:
\nGeneral Environmental Monitoring<\/p>\n

Develop and implement Water and Non-Water monitoring programs to satisfy environmental standards required by NGGL and regulatory authorities.
\nConduct environmental monitoring activities for air, water, noise, blast\/vibration and meteorology.
\nAnalyse data and report non-compliances to the Environment Supervisor for immediate investigation.
\nVerify that the quality control procedures of the monitoring program are implemented.
\nAssess ongoing monitoring requirements and propose adjustments or amendments to such.<\/p>\n

Environmental Inspections and Audits<\/p>\n

Conduct job hazard analyses of activities and ascertain whether to continue with the activity or to terminate it.
\nAssist in the site visits of the Environmental Protection Agency, Mineral Commission, Water Resources Commission and\/or other (regulatory) agency officials for conducting environmental inspections and audits, as well as third party auditors.<\/p>\n

Laboratory Analysis<\/p>\n

Manage the activities of the on-site environmental laboratory.
\nProvide verification that all samples are received and either analysed or dispatched to the external laboratory.<\/p>\n

Data Entry<\/p>\n

Assist the project team in baseline monitoring and related studies tied to collected data.<\/p>\n

Environmental Stakeholder Engagement<\/p>\n

Provide environmental input for company meetings, review and reports.
\nAddress and coordinate emerging environmental issues through engaging in meetings and other forums.<\/p>\n

Safety<\/p>\n

Contribute to the zero harm goal of Ahafo North with focus on quality Safety Interactions, Inspections, Audits, Risk Assessments & Impact Mitigation and Control Systems.
\nYour Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:
\nFormal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):<\/p>\n

First Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related fields.<\/p>\n

Additional Knowledge:<\/p>\n

Knowledge of Ghanaian Environmental Regulations as they apply to mining.
\nHSE Officer Competency in Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulation (LI2182).
\nThorough understanding of Environment Management Systems.<\/p>\n

Experience:<\/p>\n

Minimum of 3 years\u2019 environmental management experience working in the mining or related industrial operations environments.
\nExperienced working with ISO4001 or similar Environmental Management Systems.<\/p>\n

Technical Skills:<\/p>\n

Advanced interpersonal skills (interacting with diverse functional and cultural backgrounds).
\nStrong communication (written and verbal) skills.
