The Millennium Villages Project, (MVP) is a joint initiative of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, the UNDP, Millennium Promise (a private philanthropy) and the governments of African countries, including Ghana. The MVP adopts an integrated approach to help populations in severely deprived villages to break the cycle of extreme poverty and realize the Millennium Development Goals. Secotrs within which the MVP intervenes include agriculture, infrastructure, environments, health, education and business development among others. In Ghana, the MVP operates in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region, and works with a cluster of 30 contiguous villages with an estimated total population of 30,000 people<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project now invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Team Leader\/Science Co-ordinator with the following specification.<\/p>\n

<\/em>Job Summary:
\n<\/strong>The role of the Science Co-ordinator\/Team Leader is to oversee effective implementation of the new millennium Villages Project; ensure that the Project receives the scientific and technological support and guidance required to achieve the Millennium Development Goals at the community level; to provide oversight of the technical aspects of the project; and to backstop the technical activities.<\/p>\n
