Overview of the Project<\/strong><\/p>\n

SNV is implementing projects in the land use, inclusive business, and tree crop commodity value chain sectors. The projects aim to promote sustainable intensification, climate smart agriculture and other measures toward finding the right balance in sustainable crop production systems while maintaining other vital ecosystem services. The shaded cocoa agroforestry systems project (SCAFS) with funding support from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU); and the Collaborative Learning for Climate Smart Cocoa (CLCSC) with funding support from the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) are contributing to this landscape initiative.<\/p>\n

The Collaborative Learning for Climate Smart Cocoa (CLCSC) project which is being implemented in partnership with CIFOR-ICRAF seeks to support policy priorities that enable farmers to adopt climate smart cocoa practices and technologies. This will be achieved by designing and implementing locally appropriate capacity development activities and institutionalizing social learning structures to promote climate smart technologies. The project targets 15,000 smallholders toward adopting climate smart cocoa practices and facilitates integrated land use planning by strengthening Community Resource Management Areas(CREMAs). This is expected to contribute to locally-owned collaborative landscape governance system that is needed to effectively protect forests reserves and off-reserve forestlands.<\/p>\n

Main Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Coordinating all CLCSC project activities in partnership with key stakeholders and project communities to deliver up to the required quality standard. The Advisor will lead formation of collaborative learning platforms, organising and supporting collaborative learning programmes among Community Resource Management Areas (CREMAs); promote adoption of recommended climate smart technologies and document uptake, coordinate field research works and engagement of relevant sector organisations.<\/p>\n
