The Research Officer (Fundraising and Grants Management) reports to the Executive Secretary and works closely with Programme Officers in the various departments and units of the Academy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Research Officer (Fundraising and Grants Management)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The candidate for this position must have a professional understanding of the overall process of developing research proposals. managing grants, writing reports, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities and Tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Proposal Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>identities. researches and develops programs and proposals for funding<\/li>\n<li>Organizes and coordinates proposal writing teams to respond to grant opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Prepare grant and contract budgets<\/li>\n<li>Works closely with Principal Investigators in researching, drafting, and finalizing grant proposals<\/li>\n<li>Reviews and submits proposals to sponsor, ensuring accuracy and compliance with sponsor requirements and guidelines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grants Management<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensures that overall performance activities, related documentation, and reporting comply with grant requirements<\/li>\n<li>Works closely with Principal Investigators to ensure budgets are spent according to grant contracts and GAAS regulations<\/li>\n<li>Tracks and communicates progress of funded grants and contracts to the Executive Secretary and GAAS Council<\/li>\n<li>Monitors the need for contract amendments or modifications with funding agencies<\/li>\n<li>Reviews and submits in timely fashion progress reports to funding agencies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fundraising<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initiates. develop and coordinates fundraising to secure gifts, grants, and donations to support GAAS programs and activities<\/li>\n<li>Establishes and maintains networking contacts with potential and emerging donors and funding organizations<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates and facilitates effective interactions between GAAS and top Executives of funding organizations<\/li>\n<li>Compiles or develops materials to submit to donors and funding organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish exemplary relationships with personnel in all departments<\/li>\n<li>Perform any other duty assigned by the Executive Secretary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Skills Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A good first degree in the Sciences or the Humanities<\/li>\n<li>Masters degree in Economics, Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related disciplines<\/li>\n<li>Excellent writing and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to multi-task, prioritize and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Ability to research grants and gather information using internet and search engine tools<\/li>\n<li>Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Office software skills<\/li>\n<li>At least three years of demonstrated work experience in fundraising and grants management<\/li>\n<li>Must provide a professional portfolio demonstrating success as principal writer or manager of funded grants or contracts if selected for an
