He\/ She will be responsible for developing and implementing the Academy\u2019s communication plan and for coordinating all the Academy\u2019s public events. The Communications Officer will also be responsible for publicizing the Academy\u2019s news and events on all social media platforms, and for drafting content for the website and social media sites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities and Tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement the Academy\u2019s communication<br \/>\nplan and coordinate all the Academy\u2019s public events<\/li>\n<li>Publicize the Academy\u2019s news and events on social media platforms<\/li>\n<li>Draft content for the Academy\u2019s website and social media sites<\/li>\n<li>Build and manage various aspects of the Academy\u2019s social media activities<\/li>\n<li>Build and manage GAAS website and social media sites in consultation with relevant officers<\/li>\n<li>Develop newsworthy content out of GAAS events and publications<\/li>\n<li>Compile relevant material for composing the Academy\u2019s Annual Report<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage the Academy\u2019s visibility and project its research capabilities, accomplishments, and contributions to national discourse in both traditional and new media<\/li>\n<li>Establish exemplary relationships with personnel in all departments<\/li>\n<li>Perform any other duty assigned by the Executive Secretary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Skills Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold a Master\u2019s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related disciplines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the effective graphic design, branding principles, and the use of the internet and social media platforms as a means of communication<\/li>\n<li>Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft written and multimedia content related to the Academy\u2019s educational, policy, and advisory functions<\/li>\n<li>Be charismatic and dynamic with excellent interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to handle and prioritize tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail<\/li>\n<li>Must have Microsoft Office Suite software skills<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software (specifically, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and Content Management Systems.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience and creativity in the design\/development of marketing, public relations, or educational programs and communications materials<\/li>\n<li>Must provide professional portfolio including at least three best writing samples and digital communications products, if selected for an interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applications should be addressed and e-mailed to Honorary Secretary:\u00a0<strong>vacancies@gaas-gh.org<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline: September 17, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences,\u00a0Ghana\u2019s premier learned society seeks an experienced and highly motivated Communications Officer to develop and lead the implementation of the Academy\u2019s communication strategy.
