Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n JOB TITLE:\u00a0Head, Academic Computing (HAC)<\/strong> JOB SUMMARY<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 The Head, Academic Computing, (HAC) reports to the Deputy CITO (IT Services) and is responsible for identifying and implementing programmes that promote the effective use of technology in supporting teaching, learning and research.<\/p>\n The HAC leads the following sub- units:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 E \u2013 Learning Key Responsibilities include:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Providing leadership for the unit to optimize performance, quality, efficiency, and collaborate with administrative and academic partners across the University\u2019s campuses. \n\u2022 Library systems<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Designing, adapting, promoting, and implementing industry best practices for e- learning research support and library systems.
\n\u2022 Promoting the use and support of innovative and effective uses of educational technology.
\n\u2022 Collaborating with library and academic units across all UG campuses in areas of educational technology initiatives and support activities.
\n\u2022 Monitoring academic technology developments and trends and advise management accordingly.
\n\u2022 Assessing and evaluating the outcomes and impact of academic technology initiatives to steer on-going improvements and lead in the development and planning of new initiatives.
\n\u2022 Leading task forces and committees dealing with the IT needs of the University as they relate to academic functions.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 5- 6 years\u2019 experience working in or leading an academic technology support organization and managing complex information technology systems and processes
\n\u2022 Ability to communicate concepts and processes clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
\n\u2022 Upholding high ethical and moral standards.
\n\u2022 Ability to coordinate and work with teams and stakeholders.
\n\u2022 Experience in managing external vendor relationships.
\n\u2022 A broad knowledge of trends and future directions of IT and its application in higher education.<\/p>\n
