Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n JOB TITLE:\u00a0Telecom Engineer<\/strong><\/p>\n UNIT:<\/strong>\u00a0Telecommunication<\/p>\n REPORTS TO:<\/strong>\u00a0Deputy Chief Information Technology Officer, Infrastructure<\/p>\n JOB SUMMARY<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 The Telecom Engineer (TE) reports to the Deputy CITO (Infrastructure) and is responsible for identifying the requirements of the UGCS telecom networks. Duties involve working with telecommunication equipment, hardware and services. The TE is expected to solve telecom related problems by assessing situations and applying relevant solutions. The Telecom Engineer will also design and create telecommunications systems.<\/p>\n Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Engineer telecom related solutions for various projects and operational needs in accordance with standards and project\/operational requirements. Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 A Master\u2019s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology \/ Telecommunication Engineering, Data Communication and Networks or related field. \n\u2022 Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
\n\u2022 Recommend innovative solutions for related telecom services.
\n\u2022 Perform periodic monitoring to ensure the integrity and availability of all communication links and systems.
\n\u2022 Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
\n\u2022 Troubleshoot equipment and technical problems through routine inspections. Upgrade and configure telecom systems.
\n\u2022 Maintain operational configuration and\/or other procedures
\n\u2022 Provide periodic performance reports to support capacity planning.
\n\u2022 Ensure continuous and appropriate power supply to UGCS computing and communication devices.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Relevant advanced professional level qualification or industry skill-based certification.
\n\u2022 5 \u2013 6 years\u2019 experience in various areas of telecom engineering including equipment and service configuration, setup, troubleshooting, planning, designing, implementation, and user support; including Fiber Optics, ISDN, analog, TI, T2, SONET, ATM and IP PABX deployment.
\n\u2022 Ability to communicate concepts and processes clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
\n\u2022 Ability to plan, design and maintain telecommunication networks.
\n\u2022 Upholding high ethical and moral standards.
\n\u2022 Ability to coordinate and work with teams.
\n\u2022 Appreciation of IP Protocols and internet working of IP and Data Networks is an advantage.<\/p>\n
