Job Title: Technical Specialist, Impact Investment (Level II)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Impact Investment<\/p>\n

The unit provides technical guidance on MEDA\u2019s impact investment strategic direction, priorities, and technical quality, in alignment with MEDA\u2019s Strategic Plan 2020-2025 and its three central pillars: a focus on agri-food market systems, partnerships for systems change, and a North-South equilibrium. The unit is part of the Technical Division that works collectively through an Integrated Technical Framework which places equal priority on positive economic (Investment and Financial Services), social (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) and environmental (Environment and Climate Change) impact.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Impact Investment Unit supports MEDA programs and the MEDA Risk Capital Fund (MRCF) to ensure we are offering\u00a0customized catalytic financial mechanisms to address systems change for SMEs and\u00a0small producers in emerging economies. The investment strategy is under development and aim to operationalize a market system investing approach, starting with assessments that deeply examine market\u00a0risks, community vulnerabilities, environmental issues, and gender and social\u00a0inclusion challenges at various levels of the market\u00a0system (including the investment ecosystem) to inform investment decision-making.\u00a0\u200b<\/p>\n

The Unit is embarked to utilize creative financial instruments, including the MEDA Risk Capital Fund (MRCF), to\u00a0address agri-food market systems challenges identified in our local programming as a way to challenge the status quo and demonstrate to\u00a0other donors and investors the possibilities of leveraging investment for systems change.\u00a0The unit plays a critical role in supporting global teams to enhance effectiveness by generating, mobilizing, and\/or disseminating technical knowledge and evidence and encouraging local-led innovation. The unit provides technical support to MEDA programs to ensure cross-departmental collaboration and implementation and the effective application of technical standards required to achieve agri-food market systems results. The unit contributes to the generation of evidence and knowledge on impact investments-related topics and facilitates their use in MEDA country programs and activities.<\/p>\n

The Technical Specialist, Impact Investment (Level II) is part of a global MEDA team with diverse voices, experience, and knowledge. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with others in the organization to support technical consistency and cohesion and encouraging technical innovation. The Technical Specialist (Level II) supports MEDA\u2019s technical programming initiatives, developing technical strategies; delivering training; providing technical assistance at all stages of\u00a0program\/project design, development, implementation, and measurement; and developing resources\/tools. This position provides support to MEDA\u2019s international projects and staff to mainstream, integrate and contextualize standardized technical programming policies, strategies, and interventions. The position contributes to business development knowledge mobilization and thought leadership from a technical perspective into in the specified technical area. Depending on location of hire, international travel may be a requirement for approximately 30-60 days per year.<\/p>\n
