The Governor Council of Koforidua Polytechnic<\/strong> announces that the post of the Rector<\/strong> of the Polytechnic will be vacant from 1st July, 2010.\u00a0The Rector is the Academic and Administrative Head and Chief Disciplinary Officer of the Polytechnic.<\/p>\n

The Polytechnic Council has approved a Strategic Plan for the Polytechnic in which its vision, mission and objectives are explicity spelt out. The Rector should therefore have the requisite qualifications and experience and a clear understanding of Polytechnic education and its direction and be capable of implementing the institutional Strategic Plan competently<\/p>\n

The Position:<\/strong>
\nThe Rector is the Executive Head of the Polytechnic and is responsible, under the Governing Council of the Polytechnic, for both the Academic and Administrative functions of the Polytechnic
\nHe is charged with the promotion of quality higher education and the provision of academic and administrative leadership
\nHe is also responsible for initiating new directions in the academic development of the Polytechnic and for implementing the Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan
\nThe Rector is the Chief Disciplinary Officer of the Polytechnic and exercises general disciplinary functions over both members of staff and students in accordance with the Regulations of the Polytechnic<\/p>\n

Terms of Appointment:<\/strong>
\nThe Appointment, which is full-time, shall be for FOUR (4) YEARS in the first instance and may be subject to renewal for another two (2) years
\nThe Salary and Conditions of Service attached to the position are very attractive<\/p>\n

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Must be distinquished and internationally acclaimed Scholar
\nMust have wide experience and knowledge in tertiary education
\nMust have a proven capacity to motivate, manage and direct staff
\nMust exhibit a high-sense of industry, leadership qualities and organisational skills
\nMust be circumspect and above reproach
\nMust process excellent communication and interpersonal skills and capacity to manage and control crisis situation
\nMust be visionary, business-oriented and able to establish rapport between Industry and the Polytechnic for a common purpose
\nMust have the capacity to raise funds and other resources for research and other development activities of the Polytechnic
\nMust have a minimum qualification of PhD in Engineering, Applied Science or Social Science and must have attained the minimum rank of Senior Lecturer
\nMust have at least ten (10) years post qualification working experience in a senior management position in a tertiary education or public service
\nMust be able to serve a full Four-Year Term of Office before attaining the compulsory retiring age of Sixty (60)<\/p>\n
