{"id":6751,"date":"2012-01-19T11:12:07","date_gmt":"2012-01-19T11:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/?p=6751"},"modified":"2013-12-26T16:09:47","modified_gmt":"2013-12-26T16:09:47","slug":"innovations-for-poverty-action-ipa-january-2012-vacancies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/innovations-for-poverty-action-ipa-january-2012-vacancies.html","title":{"rendered":"Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) January 2012 Vacancies"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a U.S. non-profit organization dedicated to creating, evaluating, and replicating innovative solutions to poverty and policy problems worldwide.\u00a0 IPA specializes in using randomized impact evaluation to assess the effectiveness of development programs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Background:<br \/>\n<\/span>Country:\u00a0<\/strong>Ghana<br \/>\n<strong>Start Date:<\/strong>\u00a0ASAP<br \/>\n<strong>Length of Commitment:<\/strong>\u00a0TBD<\/p>\n<p>The Incentives to Save Project is seeking a Project Associate to run an evaluation that is ready to launch.\u00a0The project asks the question of whether direct incentives are an effective policy tool for generating ongoing increases in savings rates.\u00a0 Principal Investigators (PIs) include Gharad Bryan (LSE) and Margaret McConnell (Harvard School of Public Health).<\/p>\n<p>The Project Associate would be an employee of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) and work closely with at team from IPA, LSE and HSPH. The position offers an opportunity to gain first-hand field management experience in an organization undertaking cutting-edge development research.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Project Associates work closely with researchers and other field staff to perform a variety tasks including, but not limited to:\u00a0 designing survey questionnaires, conducting qualitative research, running pilot exercise, refining study design and surveying instruments, managing survey teams, negotiating contracts with survey firms, checking and analyzing data, cleaning data and assisting in preliminary analysis, assisting in the writing of project reports and policy memos and coordinating with local partners running the programs being evaluated.<\/li>\n<li>The project associate would live and work in Tamale, Ghana and would work closely with the PIs.\u00a0 The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Stata, previous experience with collecting or analyzing survey data as well as experience with large scale logistics operations in a developing world context.\u00a0 We are looking for someone who could make a two year commitment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Experience:<\/strong>\u00a0Bachelors degree or Masters, limited experience<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, or related fields.<\/li>\n<li>Experience living in a developing country is a strong plus<\/li>\n<li>Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills<\/li>\n<li>Fluency and excellent communication skills in English<\/li>\n<li>Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and team player<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Stata (strongly preferred) or other data analysis software is preferred<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with randomized controlled trials preferred.<\/li>\n<li>We are looking for a commitment period of two years for this position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested, please do two things:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Complete the J-PAL\/IPA common application indicating that you are interested in applying for a &#8220;Type 1: Field Research Associate or Project Associate&#8221; position.
