CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0Advocacy &amp; Governance Officer<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Advocacy &amp; Governance Officer will develop and implement advocacy strategy for local-level advocacy with technical assistance from the Project Manager. She\/He will analyze local policies and programmes to identify opportunities and barriers for community-based adaptation and Agriculture and Natural Resource Management.<\/p>\n<p>The Advocacy &amp; Governance Officer reports to the Project Manager for ALP. The position is based in Tamale with significant travels within and outside the project area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate participatory development and implementation of an advocacy strategy for local-level advocacy, based on key issues identified through vulnerability and policy analysis<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate regular coordination meetings to synergize the activities of development agents in the ALP partner district<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate the mainstreaming of climate change adaptation issues into the DA development planning processes<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate capacity building for partners, communities and stakeholders on local governance and planning issues and technical skills for the facilitation of Community Action Plans (CAPs).<\/li>\n<li>Provide facilitation skills and guidance to ensure the full participation of communities and individual families in determining their own sustainable development.<\/li>\n<li>Support partners to build capacity of communities in advocacy and lobbying skills to enable them effectively market their CAPs and monitor the implementation of District Medium Term Development Plans (DMTDPs).<\/li>\n<li>Create a CSO database\/inventory and update it periodically<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate capacity of grass roots CSOs\/CBOs working on local advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Develop capacity building strategy<\/li>\n<li>Provide training, mentoring and ongoing technical assistance for local CSOs such as the VSLA movement, the CAPs monitoring committees and Community Based Extension Agent (CBEA) networks.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor, evaluate and report on changes in the ALP impact communities resulting from advocacy interventions<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with the DRR &amp; Live livelihoods\u00a0 officer\u00a0 and Community Monitors to facilitate reflection and learning exercises among ALP community members to identify key lessons learned<\/li>\n<li>Write good human interest stories and articles from field experiences for publication<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for maintaining relationships with MOFA, DAs and DFSNs at District level and ensuring MOFA updated and engaged on CBES issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A university degree in a relevant discipline such as Political science, community development or development studies.<\/li>\n<li>The candidate must have strong experience in local governance and advocacy and working with diverse teams.<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of 2 years working experience on local governance and capacity building<\/li>\n<li>Strong experience and knowledge of local advocacy approaches<\/li>\n<li>Strong practical experience in working with local government and civil society organizations<\/li>\n<li>Positive experiences in relationship-building<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to gender and diversity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Livelihoods &amp; Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Officer<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Livelihoods &amp; DRR Project officer will lead in facilitating the development and implementation of Innovative approaches to community-based adaptation (CBA) in collaboration with the ALP impact communities and local partners.<\/p>\n<p>The officer will facilitate the development of capacity building strategy, provide training, mentoring and ongoing technical advice to partners, and contribute to development of project information and knowledge management system.<\/p>\n<p>The officer will facilitate monitoring of processes and results by partners working at household\/individual level, support partners in reporting on processes and results, work closely with the Local Governance &amp; Advocacy Officers to link household\/individual activities to local governance and advocacy activities and compile partner reports for submission to the Project Manager.<\/p>\n<p>The Livelihoods &amp; DRR Officer reports to the Project Manager for ALP. The candidate must have Strong experience and knowledge of sustainable livelihoods and disaster risk reduction approaches<\/li>\n<li>Practical experience in community facilitation and of working with diverse teams.<\/li>\n<li>At least five years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of five years working on community facilitation and capacity building<\/li>\n<li>Strong practical experience in participatory analysis and planning<\/li>\n<li>Positive experiences working with local and international partners and relationship-building<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to gender and diversity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3. Driver:<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>CARE International in Ghana is inviting applications from qualified persons to fill a vacant DRIVING position on a Partnership for Accountable Governance in Education (PAGE) Project.<\/p>\n<p>The Driver reports to the Administrative Secretary in the PAGE office.
