\n\u2022 Understanding production processes, and planning and installation of machinery and parts in line with design plans and timescales.
\n\u2022 Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew
\n\u2022 Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
\n\u2022 Understanding maintenance systems and scheduling
\n\u2022 Prepare budgets, tenders, and evaluate operational costs
\n\u2022 Research and Development – assessing new products and innovations, and Earth Moving prototypes
\n\u2022 Design – turning research ideas into technical plans
\n\u2022 Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.<\/p>\n
\nTo be a mechanical engineer you should have:
\n\u2022 Excellent communication and presentation skills
\n\u2022 Good problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas
\n\u2022 Excellent technical knowledge
\n\u2022 Good team working skills
\n\u2022 The ability to prioritize and plan effectively
\n\u2022 A high level of computer literacy, particularly computer-aided design
\n\u2022 Good commercial awareness
\n\u2022 The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
\nHND or degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering subject<\/p>\n
