Objectives of the College:<\/strong> The College of Humanities shall advance the objectives of each of its constituent Units and by these specific objectives, to:<\/p>\n \u2022 Create synergy for interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research in the Arts, Social Sciences, Business and Law; Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n POSITION:<\/strong>\u00a0Dean, School of Languages<\/strong><\/p>\n REPORTING TO:<\/strong>\u00a0Provost, College of Humanities<\/p>\n The School of Languages is made up of the following Departments:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Department of English QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES<\/strong><\/p>\n The successful candidate must:<\/p>\n \u2022 Be of professorial rank from an academic\/research institution or a person from industry eligible for that position; DUTIES<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 The Dean is responsible for providing leadership to the School and for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order in accordance with the policies and procedures prescribed by the University Act and Statutes, or as may be determined by the Council, the Academic Board and the School Management Committee. \n\u2022 Provide faculty and students with skills in its various fields to contribute to the development needs of the country;
\n\u2022 Establish and promote international networks of Arts, Social Sciences, Business and Law;
\n\u2022 Enhance the sharing of human, financial and material resources.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Department of French
\n\u2022 Department of Linguistics
\n\u2022 Department of Modern Languages<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Be capable of providing academic leadership especially in the area of teaching, research and extension in the relevant disciplines;
\n\u2022 Provide evidence of managerial and administrative leadership and capacity to promote a collegial working environment in the School;
\n\u2022 Demonstrate capacity to attract funding for research and development; and,
\n\u2022 Have the vision and the drive to oversee the growth and development of the School.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 The Dean is to ensure that the approved programmes and functions of the School are duly carried out by members of the School.
\n\u2022 The Dean is also responsible for the general administration of the School in respect of human, financial and material resources within the general framework of University policy.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae and copies of relevant academic and\/or professional certificates.
\n\u2022 A statement of about 2,500 words (not more than five pages) indicating how one intends to use the period in office to address relevant issues that will ensure that the University achieves its mission and vision.
