Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title:\u00a0Director, Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate<\/strong><\/p>\n REPORTING<\/strong> TO:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0The Registrar, University of Ghana<\/p>\n POSITION<\/strong> SUMMARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n Reporting to the Registrar, the Director of the PDMSD will be responsible for the overall development and maintenance of the physical environment of the University and the provision of essential services in an efficient and effective manner.<\/p>\n DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n The successful candidate shall be specifically responsible for:<\/p>\n \u2022 The supervision of works and contracts to ensure that construction and renovations are in consonance with prevailing industry standards and specifications, taking due cognizance of the needs and requirements of the University. Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n The successful applicant must:<\/p>\n \u2022 Have a good first degree in a relevant field within the built environment profession with a post graduate degree or an equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field. \n\u2022 The management of construction contracts with a view to ensuring compliance and due delivery of projects.
\n\u2022 The procurement of consultancy services relating to the provision of technical advice on construction in compliance with national laws and the University\u2019s statutes.
\n\u2022 The management and maintenance of the buildings, roads, drains, parks and gardens of the University and their designs and drawings.
\n\u2022 The construction and maintenance of residential facilities.
\n\u2022 The management and control of land use and the maintenance of records on all land transactions entered into by and on behalf of the University.
\n\u2022 The provision of valuation services.
\n\u2022 The management, control and disposal of waste.
\n\u2022 The provision of fumigation and other pest control services.
\n\u2022 The acquisition and maintenance of vehicles and the provision of transportation services.
\n\u2022 The maintenance of security on the University\u2019s campuses.
\n\u2022 The discharge of any other necessary assignments.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Be a member of a relevant professional body.
\n\u2022 Have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant post-qualification experience and must be a practitioner in the field.
\n\u2022 Have considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills and should be able to function within the higher education sector.
\n\u2022 Have high-level analytical skills, business sense as well as a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues and challenges in top-level management and administration.
\n\u2022 Be performance-driven and must be keen to achieve results.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae and copies of relevant academic and\/or professional certificates.
\n\u2022 A statement of about 2,500 words (not more than five pages) indicating how one intends to use the period in office to address relevant issues that will ensure that the University achieves its mission and vision.
