Our client is in the business of exploring, developing and extracting precious and base metals all over the world. For their operations in South Africa, our client is looking to hire a Senior Controller.<\/p>\n
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
\nThis position is responsible for corporate accounting and internal reporting for West Africa operations and multi-country subsidiaries.
\nLOCATION: Accra<\/p>\n
RESPONSIBILITIES:
\nHire and manage the work and development of staff members
\nResponsible for maintaining accurate company books and subsidiaries.
\nPrepare monthly reporting package, including comparative reports of GAAP (IFRS) operating results and financial position and variance explanations with consolidations and foreign currencies.
\nPrepare monthly forecast update, primarily by working closely with department heads in forecasting their department\u2019s overheads.
\nMaintain schedules and books of IFRS GAAP conversion adjustments.
\nAssist with preparation of monthly parent company reporting package.
\nPrepare or review annual audit work papers for the outside auditors.
\nAssist in preparing annual audited financial statements.
\nReview bank reconciliations, loan schedules, management fees, etc.
\nPrepare or review the local, personal property tax and other government forms.
\nReview intercompany billings to parent company, including the follow up of payment.
\nAssist the Vice President of Finance in preparing the annual corporate budgets.
\nSpecial projects as required.<\/p>\n
EDUCATION:
\n\u2022 Educated to Master\u2019s Degree Level
\n\u2022 Chartered Professional (CPA)<\/p>\n
EXPERIENCE
\n7+ years of experience, including two years of supervisory responsibility.
\nController or equivalent experience highly desirable.<\/p>\n

\nIntermediate to advanced applications software expertise (Excel and accounting software).
\nCorporate accounting experience, including overheads and payroll.
\nExperience in forecasting and budgeting.
\nCollege accounting degree and public accounting experience (CPA\/CA preferred).
\nKnowledge of local GAAP and IFRS would be a plus.
\nExcellent interpersonal skills and a team player.<\/p>\n
Computer skills:
\nDemonstrates proficiency in all MS Office applications including Word, Excel, & Power Point and in Internet software.<\/p>\n
