Job Title: Bank of Ghana Chair in Finance and Economics<\/strong><\/p>\n

POSITION:<\/strong>\u00a0Occupant of the Bank of Ghana Chair in Finance and Economics
\nACADEMIC UNIT:<\/strong>\u00a0Department of Finance, UGBS and Department of Economics
\nREPORTING TO:<\/strong>\u00a0The Dean, UGBS and the Head, Department of Economics<\/p>\n

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the tenure as Occupant of the Bank of Ghana Chair in Finance and Economics, the successful applicant will be required to:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Conduct research jointly approved with the Bank of Ghana;
\n\u2022 Work closely with faculty members to develop grant-seeking proposals to drive the research agenda of UGBS and the Department of Economics;
\n\u2022 Conduct research in the areas of financial intermediation, monetary policy, fiscal policy, and financial regulation, commissioned by the Bank of Ghana;
\n\u2022 Conduct other research and responsibilities that will be policy-relevant and promote industry growth;
\n\u2022 Disseminate research findings through high-quality publications in refereed journals and participate in local and international conferences\/seminars\/symposia;
\n\u2022 Deliver public lectures, policy briefs, and seminars;
\n\u2022 Organize short courses and training programs for professionals in banking and finance, and policy-related aspects of economics;
\n\u2022 Moderate roundtable discussions or brainstorming sessions on emerging developments in financial intermediation, monetary policy, fiscal policy, and financial regulation in the world and Ghana
\n\u2022 Teach and supervise graduate students in the areas of banking, finance, and economics;
\n\u2022 Facilitate program review and curriculum development in finance and economics to the highest standards;
\n\u2022 Develop a strong finance and economics research group in the University of Ghana Business School and the Department of Economics and provide leadership for same;
\n\u2022 Prepare case studies and teaching notes on banking, finance, and economics using Ghanaian cases for instruction at the graduate level;
\n\u2022 Forge strong links between UGBS, the Department of Economics, and the Bank of Ghana as well as the financial services industry in Ghana;
\n\u2022 Submit an annual report on the activities of the Chair through the UGBS and Department of Economics to the Bank of Ghana.<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

The successful applicant must:<\/p>\n

\u2022 be of professorial status from an academic\/research institution or a person from industry eligible for that status.
\n\u2022 have published widely in high-impact factor peer-reviewed publications with a decent citation record
\n\u2022 be capable of providing academic leadership, especially in the area of teaching, research, and extension in economics and\/or finance particularly in areas including monetary policy, fiscal policy, financial intermediation and financial regulation.
\n\u2022 provide evidence of managerial and administrative leadership and capacity to promote a collegial working environment in the University.<\/p>\n

TENURE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The occupant of the Chair should be able to serve a term of a minimum of two years and not more than three years.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Salary and salary supplementation
\n\u2022 Research and administrative support
\n\u2022 Furnished office as well as secretarial\/research staff support
\n\u2022 Appropriate passages to assume duty\/on departure at the end of appointment
\n\u2022 Appropriate residential accommodation for which utilities will be catered for
\n\u2022 Provision of vehicle for fieldwork and day-to-day running of the Office of the Chair<\/p>\n
