Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title: Research Field Associate Scientist<\/strong><\/p>\n About the role<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 This position will be hosted by the International Water Management Institute in Ghana, on behalf of the International Potato Center. The selected candidate will be based in Tamale, Ghana during the baseline data collection, initial program roll-out, and end-line data collection. The Research Field Associate Scientist will report to the Project and Marketing Manager, Country Liaison and will work closely with academic Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Tracking program status and randomization compliance during initial roll-out, and spot-checking randomization compliance during the project. \n\u2022 Overseeing the training of data collection team.
\n\u2022 Monitoring and assisting staff working on the project.
\n\u2022 Assisting in the designing of the survey questionnaires.
\n\u2022 Conducting basic qualitative research if necessary.
\n\u2022 Running pilot exercises.
\n\u2022 Helping in refining study design and surveying instruments.
\n\u2022 Negotiating contracts with survey firms where necessary.
\n\u2022 Checking collected data during the data collection and after.
\n\u2022 Conducting statistical analysis of the data.
\n\u2022 Providing context and background on evaluation results as necessary.
\n\u2022 Assisting in the writing of project reports.
\n\u2022 Providing frequent written updates on the status of the project and evaluation.
\n\u2022 Coordinating with local partners running the program being evaluated.
\n\u2022 Supporting outreach to policymakers in the country.<\/p>\n
\nEssential<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience with at least 2-4 years of prior work in evaluations and household surveys in developing countries.
\n\u2022 Training in development economics, social sciences, and related fields and Randomized Evaluations.
\n\u2022 Experience living and conducting field research in Northern Ghana.
\n\u2022 Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills
\n\u2022 The ability to present positions and to negotiate with senior officials.
\n\u2022 Fluency and excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in English
\n\u2022 Flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations.
\n\u2022 Familiarity with randomized controlled trials.
\n\u2022 Advanced Microsoft office skills and experience using and collaborating on google drive
\n\u2022 Experience with basic data analysis
\n\u2022 Good scientific writing skills with evidence of publication<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Knowledge of Stata, SAS, or other data analysis software.<\/p>\n
