The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t\/day of ore mined.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Description<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Job Title: <\/b><b>Backfill Engineer.<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><b>ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">To implement, monitor and co-ordinate the backfill requirements for the mine in line with the established mine plan.<\/p>\n<p><b>KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish the necessary Backfill Engineering processes and practices for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine, including Operational Readiness<\/li>\n<li>Provide unequivocal Backfill Engineering planning data to enable the monthly updates of the rolling quarterly plan to be produced on time.<\/li>\n<li>Develop the quarterly Backfill Engineering cost centre budget to achieve the required targets for achieving annual business plans<\/li>\n<li>Deliver the work of the Backfill Engineering function within approved budget targets and specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the Culture across the Backfill Engineering Section regarding Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainable Development<\/li>\n<li>Rigorously drive implementation of projects and nurture and sustain a culture of Accountability and Continuous Improvement within the Backfill Engineering team<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Corporate, Group Planning &amp; Technical, sister mines, etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Minerals Commission) to establish existing and changing societal and regulatory expectations and requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Qualification<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BSc. Mining \/ Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Experience\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three (3) years\u2019 operational experience within an underground mining environment of which at least two (2) years is backfill systems based;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience with knowledge of fundamental underground backfill mechanics;<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in the use of Mining Software;<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in the management and control of underground backfill operations across a range of fill types;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent Communication Skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Technical Competencies<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safety (Advanced Application)\n<ul>\n<li>Can identify and interpret safety risks and resolve emerging issues; and ensuring that appropriate focus and resources are available to achieve safety objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Active participant in ensuring critical controls are in place and working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mining Production Processes &amp; Practices (Basic Application)\n<ul>\n<li>Understands the mining processes and actively contributes in part to delivery of the expected outcome \/ service the mining processes deliver.<\/li>\n<li>Has demonstrated the ability to apply technical skills and\/or delivery of a service within one or more of the mining processes with minimal supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Can identify potential problems and propose solutions for higher approval.<\/li>\n<li>Directly responsible for delivering a production aspect of the plan.<\/li>\n<li>Understands good underground production practices, management, support systems, and how each should interact to deliver targeted performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Operational Management (Basic Application)\n<ul>\n<li>Understands the AGA system of \u2018how we work\u2019 and applies the basic elements.<\/li>\n<li>Capable of managing and supervising small teams.<\/li>\n<li>Able to provide performance assessments on others to their direct manager.<\/li>\n<li>Understands the adjacent technical disciplines (geology, processing, engineering etc.) and participates in discussions with colleagues in these disciplines on areas of overlap and opportunity.<\/li>\n<li>Uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities and identify cost-effective approaches<\/li>\n<li>Understands financial reports and comprehends the relevance\/impact to the total operation<\/li>\n<li>Actively looks for ways to manage costs without impacting on planned outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Planning (Basic Application)\n<ul>\n<li>Competent in creating ventilation strategies to support a mining area or block.<\/li>\n<li>Competent in developing an understanding of costs and revenue associated with a design to drive business outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of all ancillary detail of a plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Contract Management (Basic Understanding)\n<ul>\n<li>Understands the core elements of the contract and its intended outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Identifies and monitors elements of the contract performance.<\/li>\n<li>Makes suggestions for improvements or variations via their manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Project Management (Basic Application)\n<ul>\n<li>Understands AGA project management standards and has applied them in a minor project to conceptual level.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead a minor project and interact with test work and engineering consultant service providers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Innovation (Basic Application)\n<ul>\n<li>Identifies and proposes modifications to existing processes to deliver better performance and service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Other Competencies<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating a disciplined team to deliver the planned work to the defined standards.<\/li>\n<li>Managing oneself \u2013 taking ownership of one\u2019s personal development.<\/li>\n<li>Building effective working relationships \u2013 the ability to build and maintain effective collateral and cross functional working relationship;<\/li>\n<li>Building trust &amp; accountability \u2013 displaying high levels of integrity and honesty;<\/li>\n<li>Maximizing performance &amp; achievement of results \u2013 solving problems and analyzing issues, driving for results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine is currently near completion of the redevelopment phase to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation.
