The Center for Journalism Innovation and Development and New Narratives invite applications for a newly created role in our Ghana team to lead editorial output and manage partnerships supporting journalism on air pollution.<\/p>\n
This role will suit an entrepreneurial, senior journalist and team player with experience in major newsrooms in Ghana. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in issues of air pollution, environment and climate change and an extensive network of contacts in the field.<\/p>\n
Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title: Senior Editor\/Project Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n Term: 12 months with the possibility of extension.<\/strong><\/p>\n About the role:<\/strong><\/p>\n Senior Editor\/Project Manager will:<\/p>\n \u00b7 Become in-house expert on issues related to air pollution and build a strong network of stakeholders and experts to support journalism production<\/p>\n \u00b7 Manage key relationships with leading Ghanaian media outlets<\/p>\n \u00b7 Support commissioning and editing of investigations by journalism fellows<\/p>\n \u00b7 Conduct the occasional investigation<\/p>\n \u00b7 Design and coordinate workshops<\/p>\n \u00b7 Conduct surveys of media leadership and other stakeholders<\/p>\n \u00b7 Support production of monthly podcast\/radio programs<\/p>\n \u00b7 Role will include 20% of time on project management.<\/p>\n What We\u2019re Looking For:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 8+ years demonstrated experience as a journalist, including in leading independent Ghanaian newsrooms<\/p>\n \u00b7 Demonstrated strong news judgment and investigative journalism skills<\/p>\n \u00b7 Experience as an editor<\/p>\n \u00b7 Entrepreneurial mindset, willing to take the lead on a new program and help make adjustments and recommendations to benefit the project.<\/p>\n \u00b7 Extensive network among leadership of key media outlets in Ghana<\/p>\n \u00b7 Confidence to make connections with key stakeholders especially in government<\/p>\n \u00b7 Demonstrated interest and\/or experience editing or reporting on issues of pollution, environment or climate<\/p>\n \u00b7 Strong commitment to ethical journalism practices<\/p>\n \u00b7 Team player able to work with remote leadership<\/p>\n Desirable (but not required)<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00b7 Training experience<\/p>\n \u00b7 Radio production<\/p>\n About the organizations:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development<\/strong>\u00a0(CJID), formerly the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ), is a West African media innovation and development think (and do) tank.<\/p>\n Our mission is to strengthen West Africa\u2019s journalism sector to promote democratic accountability in the service of inclusive and sustainable development.<\/p>\n Our vision is to enable a media landscape that advances the values of democracy.<\/p>\n New Narratives<\/strong>\u00a0is a US-registered newsroom and news ecosystem builder.
