Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead the Human Resources function, provide strategic direction and optimize HR best practices in the bank.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop and implement strategy for HR management and development of key HR policies/practices
- Lead collective bargaining efforts and organizational development initiatives and advise the Leadership Team, other senior staff and elected officials on human resources and labour relations matters
- Ensure corporate compliance with regulatory requirements, contribute to a positive health and safety culture and administrator corporate benefit programs
- Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of HR development
- Monitor, measure and report on HR issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed format and timescales
- Manage and develop direct reporting staff
- Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets;
- Ensure all functional/department managers are fully informed of HR objectives, purposes and achievements
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary HR development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to directors, managers and staff within the bank
- Contribute to the evaluation and development of HR strategy and performance in cooperation with the executive team
- Ensure HR activities meet with and integrate with the Bank’s requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
Required Skills or Experience
- Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Human Resources
- Membership of CIPD, IHRMP or recognized professional body
- A minimum of seven years of human resources and labour relations experience, at least five of which should be in a leadership capacity or the equivalent combination of formal education and relevant experience
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and people management skills
- Solid business acumen and highly developed decision making and analytical abilities
- Strong oral/written communication and conflict resolution skills
- Government or regulated industry experience is an asset
- Must have excellent influencing and negotiation skills
- Strong change management skills are desired; and
- Must have stakeholder and customer relationship management skills
