Ghana Civil Aviation Authority: Director, Internal Audit

Under the supervision of the Director General and the board, the incumbent will ensure that all the various functions/tasks are performed as indicated below:

The incumbent will perform the following functions:

Monitor adherence by all department to management policies and directives
Ensure that documented procedures and policies exist in all departments and are compiled with
Ascertain the integrity and reliability of financial and other information provided to Management and other stakeholders
Prepare annual departmental budget
Develop annul audit work schedule for the department
Design all audit plans
Perform risk assessment of the Authority’s business (Enterprise Risk Assessment)
Review of business process in other departments
Pre audit all foreign payments or transfers
Carry out periodic investment appraisal and audit of returns
Liaise with department heads and suggest improvements in departmental controls
Regularly communicate to the director general, the Board and Audit Report Implementation committee sumarising result of audit activities
Assist in the investigation of fraudulent activities within the Authority
Regular review of audit and manuals
Review on monthly basis the operating statement of the Authority for MIS report
Review of annual draft financial statement and draft accounts for external auditors
Perform all other task as assigned by the director general, the board or the Audit Report Implementation Committee

Required Skills or Experience

The person:
The applicant must:

Be a qualified member of a recognised Professional Accounting Body such as ICA (GH), ACCA, and CIMA. A Master of Business Adiministration (MBA) degree in Finance and Accounting will be an added advantage
Have at least fifteen (15) years post qualification of which eight (8) years must be in management or senior management position in the aviation or air transport industry
Working experience in the aviation industry in management position is an advantage
Strong analytical skills; excellent knowledge in accounting and very confessant with Ghana Civil Aviation Authority’s charts of accounts
Effective oral and written communication skills; good in computer especially Microsoft excel; ability to work with various department and foster team work; and able to interpret term organisational goals and objectives
