Job Description

Job Title: Cashier

The position: IITA is recruiting for a Cashier position for the IITA Ghana Country Office. S/he will work under the supervision of the IITA-Ghana Country Representative and the Station Administrator.

Main Duties:

Work with research teams and parnters in Ghana and the Finance Division at the IITA Headquaters in Ibadan to:

•   Assist the Country Representative, Station Administrator and Account Officer with the day-to-day operational and administrative activities of IITA Ghana.
•   Handling all cash transactions on behalf of IITA Ghana in line with the specific approvals
•   Making payments to IITA staff, cash advance, travel advance, imprest  reimbursement to other units
•   Receive cash on behalf of IITA such as deposit in personal account and cost centres and sales from other units
•   Preparation of cash certificates where all the available balances will be recorded
•   Receiving all cheques and other financial instruments on behalf of IITA.
•   Raising request for imprest reimbursement
•   Develop and maintain an efficient filing system and database on cash transactions
•   Manage petty cash and payments of travel advances
•   Review expense and travel advance retirement reports in accordance with IITA policies and procedures for final approval by Country Representative
•   Assist with preparing monthly bank reconciliations of project accounts for approval
•   Assist with the production of monthly financial reports, i.e field financial reports including income statement expenditure reports and travel expense statements
•   Make and store photocopies of all original vouchers, invoices, receipts and other supporting documents of bank transactions monthly after submission of the field report
•   Work with the Accounting officer to ensure proper expenditure tracking and assist with project-appropriate expenditure tracking systems in line with project budgets and activities.
•   Perform other official duties assigned by the Accounts Officer.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A bachelor’s degree (B.A or BSc) or High National Diploma (HND) in Accounting or related field from a recognised institution or university
•   A minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in similar position in a reputable organisation
•   Experience working in similar position in a CGIAR centre will be an added advantage

•   Excellent computer skills with good grasp of spreadsheets, word processing and other MS office applications, and ability to learn new applications quickly
•   Excellent English reporting, writing and oral communication skills
•   Good team spirit and also participate as a team member in accomplishment of duties
•   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•   Numberal accuracy and attention to details
•   Ability to work with minimal supervision
•   Good office management skills
•   Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
•   Good understanding of budgeting and financial management procedures
•   Strong ability to coordinate and organise workload, take initiative and work under pressure.
