1. Internal Audit Officer

Job Description

Adehyeman Savings and Loans Limited (ASL) is a non-bank financial institution licensed by the Bank of Ghana to provide financial services. As part of our expansion program and business strategy, we require the services of a smart, confident, performance oriented and experienced professional to be employed as Internal Audit Officer

  • Check the branch’s adherence to all policies and procedures
  • Checks branch compliance with accounting and internal control protocol by:
  1. Confirming authorization for cash disbursement and office expenses;
  2. Scrutinizing accounts classification;
  3. Scrutinizing cash handling procedures;
  4. Confirming a separation of duties such as prohibits opportunities for fraud;
  5. Confirming the safekeeping of cash and files;
  6. Verifying balances in client deposit accounts, internal accounts and external accounts;
  7. Assessing the adequacy of staff output to the branch’s current level of business.
  • Ascertains the existence and true value of accounts by:
  1. Counting and reconciling cash on hand with the Daily Cash Journal;
  2. Confirming balances of inventories, loans, repayments, etc;
  3. Scrutinizing the rate of aging on loans; and
  4. Confirming account balances with creditors and debtors.
  • Checks allocated budgets against actual expenditures to report any discrepancies;
  • Checks the inventory list and depreciation schedule.  In addition, confirms that the branch’s assets agree with its official inventory list, and that its fixed assets are accurately and consistently depreciated;
  • Discusses the audit process with branch management and staff prior to conducting it, and afterward to clarify initial findings and recommendations;
  • Prepares audit reports; and
  • Ensures the branch’s compliance with audit recommendations.

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must have auditing experience preferably in a similar environment
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigation

  • Analytical skills
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications especially Excel.
  • A minimum of a university degree/ professional qualification in Accounting
  • Affiliation to any Audit Professional Body will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of one year work experience in auditing

2. Branch Manager:

Adehyeman Savings and Loans Limited (ASL) is a non-bank financial institution licensed by the Bank of Ghana to provide financial services. As part of our expansion program and business strategy, we require the services of a smart, confident, performance oriented and experienced professional to be employed as Branch Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates all activities of the branch including general office management
  • Implements policies, procedures and internal controls at the branch
  • Ensures key performance indicators, key risk indicators, and key control systems are monitored and updated on a monthly basis to provide assurance on the quality and robustness of controls
  • Prepares and submits relevant reports on branch operations to management
  • Ensures that the targets agreed with the management are reached
  • Plans and controls the liquidity of the branch
  • Decides on all operational issues within the framework of existing regulations and management decisions
  • Ensures key operations reconciliations (payment orders, interbranch accounts and clearing) are carried out continuously and efficiently
  • Chairs the Branch Credit Committee (BCC) and participates in evaluating, approving, or rejecting loans according to the level of discretion
  • Plans personnel capacity, selecting new staff and evaluating existing staff in accordance with management; Ensures that the branch staff maintain very high morale and adequate and updated training;
  • Plans and coordinates the annual leave of the branch staff within the branch.
  • Performs other human resource line management duties at the branch level in consultation with the HR Department
  • Develops good customer relationships and maintains personal contact with them in order to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensures that all customer enquiries and complaints are effectively dealt with
  • Plans and initiates promotional measures within the target markets of the branch;
  • Scouts for new business opportunities within target markets and recommends new product development
  • “Champions” the deposit mobilization efforts within the branch’s area of coverage;
  • Performs independent balancing of all records;
  • Branch facility management.

 

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • University degree in economics, accounting, business administration; and/ or a relevant professional qualification.
  • At least 3 years experience in sales, marketing, credit and deposit operations
  • Knowledge of the microfinance sector/market in the operational areas of microfinance
  • Experience in the branch manager position

  • Ability to design and implement effective financial systems and policies at branch level
  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team

3. Deputy Credit Manager – Strategy, Product Development & Portfolio Growth

Adehyeman Savings and Loans Limited (ASL) is a non-bank financial institution licensed by the Bank of Ghana to provide financial services. As part of our expansion program and business strategy, we require the services of a smart, confident, performance oriented and experienced professional to be employed as Deputy Credit Manager – Strategy, Product Development & Portfolio Growth.

Some Job Responsibilities:
1. STRATEGY

  • Conducts market research, competitor analysis, industry analysis and macroeconomic analysis to determine credit products that best suit the needs of our clients and which will be profitable for Adehyeman
  • Ensures a continual appraisal and revision of existing credit products
  • Coordinates the development of  demand acquisition plans to help sustain demand for all our loan products
  • Plays a key role in the development and revision of an up-to-date, customer-centered and risk-based Credit Policy Document
  • Plays a key role in the development and periodic revision of a job-focused Credit training manual for Adehyeman
  • Designing an effective and efficient database and reporting templates for credit data management and reporting

2. CONTROL

  • Regular monitoring of loan officers output and productivity and taking corrective measures to deal with variances
  • Regular monitoring of product and sector compositions of our loan portfolio with the aim of ensuring that such ratios are within the acceptable limits
  • Constantly monitoring our credit products in the light of competitor information and clients’ preferences and suggesting modifications or improvements
  • Constantly monitoring our loan processes and suggesting useful modifications

3. TASK EXECUTION

  • Setting disbursement and portfolio growth targets for all branches and credit officers
  • Assist branches in discovering new markets within their catchment areas for the purpose of generating demand for loans
  • Identify training needs of our credit staff (and others involved in credit administration) and organize trainings for them
  • Participates in branches credit committees
  • Gives support to the branches (when BM or Credit supervisor is on leave or resigns pending replacement)

 

 

Required Skills or Experience

Educational requirements:

  • A first degree in accounting, mathematics or any other relevant field with at least 2 years experience in credit administration in a microfinance institution
  • Experience in product development
  • Good knowledge of group lending methodology
  • Background in marketing or research would be very advantageous
