Inspection and verification of welding activities including qualification of welders, procedure specifications and welding machines.

Job Description

Job Title: Welding and Coating Inspector – Level 2 .

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspection of coatings.
  • Responsible for material ordering, co-ordinating painting and production activities, maintaining cost control, transportation scheduling, project estimating.
  • Ensure that all equipments are in good condition.
  • Follow up abrasive blasting works.
  • Inspect the cleaned blasted area according to specification requirements (ISO 8501-1)
  • Climate condition records along the day.
  • Control mixing of paint material.
  • Spraying works audits and wet film thickness measurements.
  • Ensure that Coatings and wrappings are installed properly. Co-ordination with Resident Engineer and Contract for all welding and costings/lining activities.
  • Inspection and verification of welding activities including qualification of welders, procedure specifications and welding machines.
  • Check only approved electrodes, wires and gas are used.
  • Control welding consumables and documents.
  • Visual inspection of pipe fit up and welds joints.
  • Monitor performances of the welders on the basis of radiographic inspection and promote corrective action, where necessary check final dimension, material traceability, orientation and cleanliness after completion of spool fabrication.
  • NDE inspection and pressure tests in accordance with the approved procedures and QC plan for site activities.
  • Collection of inspection records, maintain and update inspection and test status.
  • Radio graphic inspection of Radio graphs and Ultrasonic files.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • 5 years minimum experience as a caotings inspector.
  • NACE Level 2
  • SAQCC Level 2
  • 5 years minimum experience as welding inspector.
  • SAIW senior inspector or CSWIP Level 2 or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
