The Mine Manager must enable all areas of the mining operation to attain a world-class level; comply with the site’s statement of commitment, standards, and procedures in Safety, Environment, and External Relations and in line with company policies. They must provide strategic and operational leadership to the Mining Operation, ensure technical excellence in all areas of mining and ensure the mine operations are maximizing their economic potential.

Job Description

Job Title: Mine Manager

Responsibilities:

• Ensure department’s compliance with the requirement of Government of Ghana Agencies
• Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every mine worker under supervision
• Comply with company policy on capital spending, manage contractual obligations to achieve the best benefit for the company
• Initiate projects and programs that provide continuous improvement and to establish monitoring systems to ensure that the expertise required to run the operations is passed on to all employees
• Coordinate the activities of operating groups to ensure the efficiency and productivity of mining operations
• Communicate with operating personnel on a regular basis with regard to keeping them informed of the status and direction of the operation
• Oversees pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for new projects; due diligence and proper evaluation of new projects or acquisitions
• Review and update policies and procedures; appropriate risk analysis/assessment in areas of budget planning, social responsibility, and safety
• Establish operational and production targets and ensure the achievement of company production objectives through the effective management

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• B.Sc. or MSc Degree in Mine Engineering, Metallurgy or related field
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in a management multi-national position in the mining industry to include design, construction, and operations of large-scale sites at mining/processing facilities
• Management and supervisory experience in developing country is essential
• Exposure to the wide range of infrastructure systems required to support a remote site is critical to this position
• Strong computer literacy skills
• Great presentation, negotiation, conflict resolution and analytical skills
• Ghanaian nationals
