The Financial Reporting Manager is a key senior member of the Finance team with a commensurate remuneration package, reporting directly to the Financial Controller and is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate entity level financial reporting for internal and external purposes.
Job Description
Job Title: Financial Reporting Manager
The job holder will be responsible but not limited to;
• Prepare the Group’s quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the BoG Guidelines for Financial Reporting and other relevant laws and regulations;
• Oversee month-end closing and prepare monthly management accounts
• Prepare and file tax returns and coordinate tax audits
• Assist in the coordination of annual audit and periodic review activities of external auditors and BoG examiners;
• Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure agreement on accounting disclosures and related matters;
• Be Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Bank’s general ledger and ensuring timely reconciliation of relevant general ledger accounts
• Review the work done by all Units reporting to the Financial Controller, including financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable and regulatory reporting
Technical Skills & Competencies
• Applicable knowledge and first-hand experience in the:
o application of IFRS in a universal/commercial bank setting (required);
o preparation of a commercial bank’s consolidated financial statements (required);
o preparation and filing of tax returns (required);
o preparation and filing of regulatory returns (preferred)
• Must have good knowledge of banking products and services
• Must have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills
• Must be performance-oriented and have the ability to work in a pressured environment to meet tight deadlines.
• Must have the ability to build and foster internal working relationships.
• Must be numerate and well versed in Microsoft Excel
Qualifications
• Qualified Accountant (CA or ACCA) (required);
• A Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education/experience (required);
• Master’s Degree in a related field (added advantage);
• At least 4 years relevant and similar work experience in financial reporting in the banking industry (required);
• Professional qualification in taxation (desired but not required);
