Ghana Legal Aid Scheme is a public service organisation within the Justice delivery system of Ghana. It is one of the component institutions over which the Ministry for Justice has oversight responsibility and is governed by a twelve (12) member Board of Directors, The Scheme operates countrywide from ten (10) offices in all the Regional capitals. The Scheme is tasked under the Legal Aid Scheme Act 1997 (Act 542) to provide legal assistance to the poor and indigent, as well as other persons in the prosecution and defence of their rights under the Constitution of Ghana
Job Description
Assists in the efficient management of the Region/Division
Assists in the supervision of the work of others staff in the Region/Division
Assist in collaboration of data for the preparation of half year, annual and other reports
Assists in the review of cases for appropriate action
Supervises the organisation of regular review meetings
Represents clients in court, when necessary
Performs any other duties assigned
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
Remuneration is attractive with fringe benefits. Conditions of service are the same as those applicable in the Judicial and Legal Service of Ghana
Required Skills or Experience
A minimum of Barrister-at-Law (BL) certificate awarded by the General Legal Council of Ghana
Must have been called to the Bar in Ghana
A minimum of three (3) years post call relevant work experience in private or public institution
Candidate must be computer literate
Must pass an interview conducted by the Legal Aid Board
