Job Title: Head – Business Development

Experience: around 20 years
Education Qualification: Bachelor / Masters
Location: Africa (North or west)

Desired Profile:

 Should have knowledge of mining operation / acquisition with over 15 yrs relevant experience in overseas operation & acquisition, out of that must have around 10 years experience in Africa.
 Should be fully conversant with technical, legal and safety aspects of mining.
 He should be responsible for Development of Mining Business, advising management on several strategic issues on business development and acquisitions, leading the company in acquisition of mines at different locations. Managing entire operations with key focus on profitability & optimal utilization of resources;

 Besides having sound technical knowledge you should be well versed with Government rules and regulations and be able to lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals and achieve overall business goals of the organization.
 Should possess skills like analyzing market trends to provide critical inputs for Business Development Initiatives & formulation of selling & marketing strategies.

 Should possess; profound understanding of formulating and implementing business development strategies to enhance corporate growth in the natural resources sector.

 Should possess; international exposure and proficient at project implementation, preparation of budgetary & commercial offers/ tenders and technical proposals for national & international clients.


 Should also possess; exceptionally strong negotiating and deal-making qualifications that combines interpersonal communications, strong leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to direct high-level business affairs.

 Should possess; international exposure and proficient at project implementation, preparation of budgetary & commercial offers/ tenders and technical proposals for national & international mines.

 Candidate should be good in English (Written / Verbal) , good liaisoning capabilities, sincere , hard working , dedicated , intelligent & be able to influence . Computer literate, ability to understand technical specification and communicate /convincing effectively is must.

 This position requires consistent academic career from reputed institute, high level of maturity, leadership quality, analytical mind, , pro-active, Creative, good in English communication (written & verbal), exposure to SAP / ERP/ Computerised environment will be preferred.

Job Description

 Targeting evaluation of mineral resources assets for acquisition
 Exploring new business opportunities in Mineral Industry and formulating Entry strategy in the African countries.
 Formulating of bidding strategy & preparation of bid documents in co-ordination; with corporate finance team.
 Development of trade practice in new mineral businesses and base metals.
 Mapping business potential identifying profitable target markets for products.
 Identifying and networking with financially strong and reliable dealers and channel partners, resulting in greater penetration and improved market share.
 Identify new business opportunity; develop Business Strategy & Business Plan for the Company in new locations.
 Identify key resources for the location.
 Interact with various consultants and have the knowledge and expertise to finalize contracting arrangement with them for different purposes.
 Ability to negotiate and knowledge of broad commercial terms and conditions applicable to different types of contracts.
 Develop risk matrix and ways & means of mitigation of such risks.
 Develop financing model and plans for funding projects including equity funding.
 Good analytical capabilities to analyze financial and commercial aspects of any given opportunity to drive sound decision making.
 Ability to prepare investment proposals / cases and obtain approval from the management.
 Knowledge & ability to understand various risk factors, their impact & what can be insured & what not & how to allocate uninsurable risks.
