Institute of Professional Studies was established in 1965 as a private institution and was taken over by the Government in 1979; Subsequently, the Institute of Professional Studies Act of 1999 (Act 566) was enacted by Parliament which transformed it into a tertiary institution with the mandate to provide professional and academic education in the disciplines of Accountancy and Management. The Institute attained full-fledged university status on 1st September, 2008 when it was granted a Presidential Charter.

The Council of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) hereby announces that the post of Registrar of the Institute of Professional Studies? will fall vacant from 1ST JULY, 2010, A successor is therefore being sought to replace the Registrar, MR. W. B. DAPAAH, who retires from the Institute as of that date.

Job Description

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:

Collaborate with administration and professional community to identify and address issues concerning the Institute and its publics accordingly
Advice management on issues of public interest, public policy and social change especially those that concern the institute and its publics
Initiate and respond to opportunities for collaboration with eternal bodies engaged in public interest activities
Develop and implement a full public affairs/relations and integrated strategy for the department as well as the institute
Have overall responsibility for marketing, media and public/international relations, the Institute’s publications and web content: serve as a liaison between the media and the Institute

Required Skills or Experience

A Masters Degree in Communication Studies, Public Relations, Marketing or any related area with a minimum of five (5) years post qualification working experience preferably, in a Tertiary Institution
Excellent understanding of the Ghanaian Society, media, education and political systems will be an added advantage

Have excellent communication (written and oral) and people skills with an interest in politics and educational summarisation skills

Have IT skills
Possess excellent listening, diplomatic and advisory skills
Be able to work with little or no supervision and be able to meet deadlines
Should be a strategic thinker with integrity and maintain an international perspective, be an effective manager with an experience to navigate the trickest of situations
Have understanding of public policy as well as processes and structures
