Job Description
Job Title: Mine Engineer
PurposeTo carry out department functions including: short and long term mine design and scheduling, project analyses and feasibility studies, ore control, reconciliation, geotechnical analysis, mine engineering systems analysis and design, and preparation of detailed reports.

Essential Duties
- Develops and implements mine plans.
- Prepares, reviews and evaluates mine designs, mine plans, ore control, project feasibility and productivity studies. *
- Ensure the execution of following functions:
- Complex orebody modeling
- Pit design and optimization
- Ore reserve reporting
- Short and long term production scheduling and budgeting
- Design of waste dumps, stockpiles and roads
- Analysis of costs and cutoff grades
- Production accounting
- Administration of truck dispatching systems
- Pit slope monitoring and designs
- Stockpile inventory accounting
- Complex equipment analysis, dump, and tailings analysis; cost estimates and other related productivity analysis/improvement studies.
- Blast pattern design
- Reconciliation of block model to actual production
- Reconciliation of predicted to actual equipment requirements
- Become familiar with and strictly adhere to Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards. Act as a role model in complying with and supporting these standards and practices.

Training & Experience
Knowledge:
- Degree in Mining Engineering
Experience:
- Minimum 5years of experience in open pit mining
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to visualize and communicate mine designs using specialized mine design software such as:
- Minesight
- Shotplus-i
- Surpac/Minesched
- SplitDesktop
- AutoCad
- Jigsaw/Leica
- Xeras
- Minemax
- Whittle
- Strong PC skills using office software such as Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and consultation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to identify and analyze organizational needs.
- Demonstrate strong supervisory, verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Position is located at Ahafo North Site
- The work will be in a field project office that has the usual problem of expanding staff and limited resources.
- Position will be required to travel to other locations and project offices in Ghana and also visit construction and mining sites and must be fit enough to traverse rough ground, climb ladders, and walk for 15 minutes without tiring.
