The Tax Accountant performs professional accounting duties and analysis of financial data in support of various accounting functions that may include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Tax.

Job Title: Tax Accountant
Major Responsibilities
- Ensure timely and accurate personal income, corporate VAT, and corporate income tax filings are completed
- Maintain up to date Tax dashboard, noting monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines along with necessary deliverables and owners
- Support MGL Financial Controller and MODEC Global Tax Director in statutory corporate tax filings and internal/external audits
- Prepare and liaise with external Accounting firm on monthly/quarterly/annual CIT statutory and parent company filings
- Prepare and file monthly/quarterly/annual personal income tax statutory filings for MODEC Employees, including reviewing/approving monthly payroll for accuracy on deductions.
- Ensure taxes are correctly calculated on supplier and client invoices, consistent with statutory regulations and client contracts
- Prepare and ensure quarterly Corporate Tax Credit Certificates are filed and obtained from statutory authority
- Reviews monthly/quarterly/annual journal entries to ensure accuracy as it relates to tax obligations and estimates. This includes compliance with both statutory, Singapore Reporting Standards, and IFRS/GAAP as needed.
- Creates and maintains dashboard metrics for Tax filings and reporting deadlines, noting responsible parties and deliverables.
- Prepare and file statutory Value Added Tax filings as needed
- Identifies and resolves situations not in compliance with company internal controls and recommends improvements to the accounting process to optimize internal control.
- Assist with the yearend audit and helps prepare requested schedules and answer any queries.
- Assist with annual budgeting in relation to Corporate/Personal Income tax issues
- Research and maintain current on statutory tax issues and laws, ensuring MODEC updates procedures and calculations when necessary to remain in
compliance with regulatory authorities
Requirements for the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and Business .
- Requires strong technical knowledge of at least one area of tax and general knowledge of several other areas in the accounting field.
- Two to five years relevant experience in one or more areas of accounting/tax/auditing.
- Experience in the preparation and/or review of Ghana personal and corporate income tax, as well as VAT filings
- Computer skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and financial analysis
- Experience working for or with the Ghana Revenue Authority
- Demonstrates ability to work independently and a high level of analytical ability to identify and resolve nonrecurring
- Demonstrates some degree of leadership ability, along with the capacity to effectively communicate using good written, verbal, presentation
and listening
- Shows evidence of good organization and project planning
- Demonstrates ability to interpret and apply relevant policies and Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
Salary Expectation
Above GHS 2000.00.
