Job Description:

Puma Job Title: Legal Counsel Regional

Supervisor Location:

Reporting relationship is:

Close (i.e.: same office)

Remote

Key Relationships:

  • Internal – Management and business teams. Commercial management
  • External – Government attorneys and advisors, auditors.

Function:

Responsible for providing a full range of corporate legal advice for the W/A region.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal advice on commercial matters, transactions, risk management, corporate governance, representations, joint venture and cooperation arrangements, employee relations, intellectual property, confidential disclosures, licenses, and acquisitions on specific regions.

2. Representing the company in negotiations and discussions and other dealings with regulators, government authorities, industry associations, customers, consultants and other third parties.

3. Advise the management and the business development teams regarding the management of legal and commercial risks associated with new investment opportunities, providing advice on the structuring of transactions, compliance and corporate governance issues, management of local and regional legal issues, and recommending and managing retention of outside counsel.

4. Negotiation and resolution of legal and business issues encountered in the operation of the business, with an emphasis on a business-focused approach that complies with internal policies and applicable laws, and support the company long-term interests and objectives.

Requirements:

Experience

  • Degree in Law
  • Min 8 years’ relevant experience
  • Significant experience in Oil & Gas industry

Skills:

  • Fluent English, French and/or Portuguese big plus
  • Good working knowledge of English commercial Law
  • Knowledge of regional market and legal framework
