Job Description

Job Title: Civil-Structural Engineer

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Primary role is to fulfill the civil – structural engineering needs for a wide variety of industrial clients.
• Provides design/analytical civil – structural engineering for projects and proposals to assure that design meets customer specifications and industry codes and standards.
• Participate in a multi-disciplinary environment in determining the civil – structural requirements.
• Will handle specification creation and modification, as well as oversee detailed design.
• Travels to fabrication sites, installation sites, and customer facilities as needed to support project requirements.
• Work collaboratively with others in a team environment to accomplish objectives.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Coordinate with design staff engaged on projects.
• Work with reinforced concrete design to include – Equipment Foundations, Machine Foundations, Concrete Structures, Containment Systems, Plant Buildings, and Marine Structures.
• Work with structural steel design to include- Process Structures, Rail and Truck Loading Structures, Pipe and Cable Tray Racks, Marine Structures, Sheet pile structures and retaining walls.
• Structural engineers will need to design to national codes and standards. Understanding, interpreting and correctly applying these codes and standards are paramount to a safe design.

Key Competencies, Skills and Requirements:

• Minimum HND or Bachelor Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related qualification;
• 5 years applicable experience in the consulting sector specifically with civil projects;
• Registration or eligible to be registered with Professional Engineers Association;
• Excellent communication (written and oral), prioritization and organization skills;
• Detail oriented with the ability to balance a diverse and changing workload; and,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Civil 3D , AutoCAD Micro station , and 3D experience/abilities are considered an asset;
• Project Management, People Management and experience in Construction Engineering are considered strong assets
• Ability to manage multiple project priorities, and a willingness to quickly change work assignments
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team environment.
