Stanbic Bank applied to the Ghanaian authorities for permission to establish a new bank under their umbrella, called Stanbic Bank Ghana Ltd, which will offer full commercial and merchant banking services. Stanbic Bank Ghana Ltd opened for business in December 1999. Today we are recruiting for Head, Personal Banking
Job Description
The Role:
- To provide strategic direction and leadership to Personal Banking as part of the broader Retail Banking strategy of the Bank. To drive and manage the profitable delivery of a proactive, value-adding sales and service platform in the Personal Banking environment in order to grow and retain high-value customers. This will include functional responsibility for Branch Network, Wealth and Distribution & Self Service Channels
Report directly to the Head, Personal and Business Banking:
- Set strategic direction for the Personal Banking section in line with the Group strategic agenda
- Understand and communicate market opportunities, competitor analysis and organisational readiness
- Drive appropriate resourcing and human capital requirements
- Oversee and offer support to sales and service teams
- Build service proposition through customer strategy, measurement and enablement
- Facilitate migration to appropriate channels
- Develop and manage key stakeholder relationship on behalf of Personal Banking
- Develop a culture of partnership and working together in Personal Markets
- Build a sustainable Physical Distribution infrastructure
- Accountable for guidance, coaching, training and mentoring of Personal Banking teams
Required Skills or Experience
- A good first degree in a business related field. An MBA will be an added advantage
- Minimum of eight (8) years general banking experience, with exposure in Personal Banking
- In-depth knowledge of Personal/Consumer banking in Africa and/or the Emerging Markets
- Strongly numerate with an exposure to best-practice finance and capital management in banking
- Credible experience having operated at both a strategic and operational level in a similar function and environment for a minimum of five (5) years
- Credible experience in running a Personal/Consumer Banking business with presence in Africa or Emerging markets
- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders across various countries and cultures
- Ability to positively influence with strong negotiation skills
- Broad business acumen with an ability to operate at strategic and operational levels
- Comfortable to operate in a ‘Greenfield’ business
- Strong people management skills
