Job Title: School Principal

Overall Purpose
To provide effective leadership of the organization and management of the school, staff, pupils, premises and resources.  The Principal will perform the duties to support growth and development of the school. The position is responsible to the Director

Core Purpose of the Principal
The core purpose of the Principal is to provide professional leadership and management for the school, to promote a secure foundation from which to achieve high standards in all areas of our school’s work. Working with the director to develop a team that has the necessary skills and knowledge. Also to recognize the role parents, caregivers and families play in helping children to succeed and thrive through being healthy; staying safe; enjoying and achieving learning. The Principal has the responsibility for raising the quality of teaching and learning for pupil’s achievements within a successful learning environment, and to develop effective relationships and communication which promote a professional learning environment.

Core responsibilities

• Recommend and review curriculum for the various stages in the school
• Effectively manage teaching and learning by reviewing lesson notes, class and homework, teaching methods, etc.
• Promote excellence and high expectations for all pupils
• Provide leadership and direction
• Evaluate school performance and identify priorities for continuous improvement
• Carry out day to day management, supervision and administration
• Secure the commitment of parents and teachers
• Create a safe and productive learning environment which is engaging and fulfilling for all pupils
• Work effectively with the school’s director bringing to attention any changes or improvements that need to be made.
• Challenge, influence and motivate teachers to attain high standards of teaching
• Give and receive effective feedback and act to improve personal performance
• Work in collaboration with teachers and director to achieve job function.

Duration: This is a 6-month assignment with possibility of renewal.

Location of School: Near Ashongman Estates.

Required Skills or Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences or any related discipline
• 5 years or more relevant experience in a similar position
• A demonstrated knowledge of Montessori education required
• Command of computer applications is absolutely required, including Word, Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills required
