Tamale Polytechnic began as a Trades Training Centre in 1951 and then became the Government Training School in 1954. It was converted to a Junior Technical Institute in 1960.

The School was elevated to the statutes of a Polytechnic on August 23, 1992. As a result of the Educational Reform Programme and the enactment of the PNDC Law 321 in 1992, Tamale Polytechnic was elevated to tertiary status together with Accra, Kumasi, Ho, Cape Coast and Takoradi Polytechnics. The Polytechnic now trains students up to the Higher National Diploma level and degree programmes.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for appointment into teaching positions in the various schools of Tamale Polytechnic.

Job Title: Professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers

Job Specification:

Suitable applicant must possess PhD, MPhil or MSc/MBA (Researched) in the relevant field. In the case of Marketing, a Professional Certificate will be an added advantage. Applicants must be computer literate. Must possess good communication skills with excellent inter-personal relation. Applicants must have at least five (5) years working experience, or three (3) years post qualification experience in the relevant field.

    Job Description for Academic Staff:

Candidates will be required to provide the following services:

  • Quality teaching to students at various levels (Tertiary and Non-Tertiary).
  • Conducting academic research and publication of research work
  • Setting of examination questions, invigilation and marking.
  • Supervision of students’ project work, workshop and laboratory activities.
  • Offer academic counselling to students
  • Serving the School/Department in multiple ways including serving on statutory committees
  • Embarking on extension and community service for the Polytechnic Community and beyond.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you by the Rector, Vice Rector, Dean, andHOD.
