Job Description
Location: The position is located in the Regional Environmental & Natural Resources Office of USAID/West Africa
The incumbent assists USAID missions and partners in the West Africa region to understand and implement the environmental regulations and review procedures for USAID funded activities
Salary Range: GH¢24,604 – 36,904 p.a (depending on qualification and experienced.
Required Skills or Experience:
A Masters degree with specialized course work in natural resources, water management, environmental studies, forestry, or other fields applicable to environmental compliance
Five to seven (5-7) years of progressively responsible professional-level experience including five (5) years in development assistance
Prior experienced in project design, implementation, and usage of complex IT systems for monitoring and evaluation of projects and results tracking and documentation is desired.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate in an environment of complex information and ample problem solving capacity using analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural setting are required
The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work independently or as part of a team and to mentor Mission Environmental Officers as required
Excellent written communication skills are required to draft environmental compliance documentation
Demonstrated past experience in writing: Initial Environmental Examinations, Environmental Review Forms and, Environmental Assessments is required.
