Global Responses Initiative (GLORI) is a Registered Non-Governmental Non-profit making organization dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of individuals, organizations and communities to improve on their health and social circumstances.

The International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour-Cocoa Community Project (IPEC/CCP) is an International Labour Organization  Programme being implemented by four Implementing agencies in 4 district of which Global Responses Initiative is the implementing agency for the Wassa Amenfi West District of Ghana..

The Programme applies an integrated-area-based approach, involving strategic service delivery on a participatory scale to support its advocacy work with the aim of eliminating child labour in its operational area – 4 Cocoa growing districts in Ghana.

The Programme works in the areas of Education, Children’s rights monitoring and protection, sanitation, Community-based Networks, Child protection, Youth Empowerment and Employment, with the overarching focus of civil society strengthening.

Job Description

 

GLORI is seeking a Project Coordinator for immediate hire.  The Project Coordinator will assist with implementing and evaluating Cocoa community Project on Child Labour by International Labour Organisation.  The positions will be based in Asankragwa, with frequent travel within the Wassa Amenfi West District.

Job Description: 

  • The Project Coordinator will manage fieldwork for the projects; including planning, training, logistics, hiring, supervising daily field activities, and monitoring.
  • The Project Coordinator will also maintain records; including project reports and project expenses.
  • They will assist with project budgets, project design and planning, as well as manage relations with partner organizations, and with other tasks as needed.
  • In general, the Project Coordinator is responsible for maintaining high quality data collection and will report to Programmes Manager.
  • Employment will be for an initial one year period, with the possibility of an extension contingent on employee performance and the project being approved for continuation.

 

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must be able to independently manage a project team in the field and contribute to the design and planning of the projects.
  • A 4-year degree from a recognized university
  • Knowledge of research methods
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates good judgment in the field
  • Highly personable and able to work effectively with supervisors, the project team and representatives from partner organizations.
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email

The following are highly desired:

  • Good knowledge of national/local laws and regulations pertinent to child
  • Experience and knowledge in children’s rights monitoring in Ghana
  • Experience with project/field data collection
  • Experience with cash, finances, and budgeting
  • Experience in program operations, planning and logistics
  • Fluency in Twi and other Akan languages
  • Strong professional experience working in the NGO Sector

Human Rights Project’s specific requirements:

  • Willingness to travel extensively within Wassa Amenfi West District.
  • Ability to ride the motorbike
