Headquartered in Markham, Canada, CCFC currently has thousands of children receiving sponsorship and we are involved in child centered community programs through 8 program countries in Africa, South America and South Asia.

Job Description

We are looking for a Country Director with passion and expertise to move us to the next higher level in our child sponsorship and development programs in Ghana.

Country Director Overview:
The Country Director (CD) is CCFC’s senior representative in the country of operation and is responsible for the overall leadership and ensuring the success of CCFC’s work in that country. This contributes to the CCFC vision inspired by the example of Christ by serving the poor regardless of their faith, cultural and ethnic background.
For more than 50 years, CCFC has worked on creating a future of hope for children, families, and communities by helping them develop the skills and resources to overcome poverty and pursue justice.

Scope of the Position:
The Country Director is accountable for the overall leadership and operations of the Country Office and for achieving 100% of strategic plan results, meeting all CCFC standards, and mitigating known risks by:

Making decisions aligned with strategic goals and values;
Identifying new opportunities for improvement and developing solutions to resolve issues;
Providing direction and support to CCFC partners and holding them accountable for timely deliverables and conscientious use of resources;
Leading and developing a high performing Country Office team;
Ensuring the financial integrity and viability of the Country Office;
Building networks in the country of operation to enhance CCFC’s brand, credibility with stakeholders in international development, child advocacy, business community, government, bi-lateral and multi-lateral funders, and other not for profit and for profit organizations;
Lead the facilitation of community mobilization and capacity building efforts of CCFC Country Office partners and the communities served through networking, advocacy and awareness rising.

Required Skills or Experience

Requirements /Qualifications:

Minimum undergraduate degree in a related field; post graduate degree an asset
Minimum 7 years experience in development with a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership role
Experience in one or more of CCFC’s key sectors: Sustainable livelihood development; education; health and nutrition; water, sanitation and hygiene; strengthening community organizations. Experience on advocacy an asset
Experience in practicing Results Based Management (RBM) and in using Participatory Development Approach (PDA) tools. Knowledge and experience in Logical Framework Analysis (LFA)
Working knowledge of group facilitation, training, capacity-building, community mobilization and conflict resolution skills.
Project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation experience.
Proven ability to develop strategic and operational plans and related budgets, and to translate strategy into measurable, achievable tactics.
Ability to analyze, integrate and use financial data to accurately identify and diagnose key issues and develop strategies and plans.
Commitment to achieving results, deadline driven, proactive and self motivated.
Experience developing, maintaining contacts, influencing developing, and funding agencies. Networking and relationship-building skills
Ability to lead a diverse team to achieve organizational objectives and navigate change.
Decision-making and conflict management ability.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, including public speaking, networking and presentation skills.
Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; MS Project is an asset.
Knowledge of key social, political and economic issues of the country of operation.
Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and experience.
