Ghana Insurers Association is the trade Association of all insurance and reinsurance companies licensed to transact insurance business in Ghana
History
Ghana Insurance Industry traces its root to the colonial era when insurance business was transacted through foreign trading companies who acted as chief agents of insurance companies in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
In 1924 Royal Exchange Assurance Corporation which was then represented by its Chief Agent, Barclays Bank, opened its branch in the Gold Coast. It then became the first insurance company to operate in Ghana. It is now known as Enterprise Insurance Company after going through a series of changes. After that many other foreign companies opened offices in the Gold Coast.
Job Description
Job Title: Receptionist / Secretary
• A good front desk officer, as a critical first level contact for anyone coming into contact with the Association either in person or by phone, is an image enhancer. The role holder will be responsible for interfacing with all manner of persons who walk into the secretariat or call the secretariat by phone and must ensure that their needs and queroes are effectively handled or directed to the appropriate officer
• It is expected that the person to be employed would also double as a secretary. A bilingual young and good looking lady would be most preferred
General Purpose
• Attend to visitors and deal with enquiries on the phone and face to face. Supply information regarding the organisation to the general public, clients and customers
Duties and Responsibilities
Must have ability to:
• Answer telephone, screen and direct calss
• Take and relay messages
• Provide information to callers
• Greet persons entering organisation
• Direct persons to correct destination
• Deal with queries from the public and member companies
• Ensure knowledge of staff movements in and out of secretariat
• Monitor visitor access and maintain security awareness
• Provide general administrative and clerical support
• Prepare correspondence and documents, receive and sort mail and deliveries
• Schedule appointments, maintain appointment diary either manually or electronically
• organise boardroom for meetings, co-ordinate meetings and organise catering
• Monitor and maintain office equipment and control inventory relevant to reception area
• Tidy and maintain the reception area
Qualification Required & Experience
• HND Secretaryship or Marketing from a reputable polytechnic in Ghana or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Fluency in a second language such as French would be an added advantage
• Must have good knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
• Must be computer literate with good knowledge of relevant software applications
• Must have good knowledge of customer service principles and practices
• Must have excellent communication and telephone/switchboard skills, a good voice and a likeable personality
