The Millennium Villages Project, supported by Millennium Promise Alliance and the Earth Institute at Columbia University, is a bottom-up approach to lift developing country villages out of the poverty trap that afflicts more than a billion people worldwide. The Millennium Villages’ team of experts in agriculture, nutrition and health, economics, energy, water, environment and information technology are working with local communities and governmens to apply proven holistic package of interventions to help villages get out of extreme poverty and meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
With support from Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and funding from the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom, a SADA Millennium Village is to bestablished in parts of the West Mamprusi and Builsa Districts of the Northern and Upper East Regions of Ghana.

The project area covers a cluster of contiguous rural communities with an estimated population of 25,000 people.

1. E Health MAnager

Required Skills or Experience

Degree in engineering, computer science or related field

  • Minimum 3-years professional programming experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement web-based software solutions with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated experience developing web applications in Python or PHP required
  • Experience with web frameworks like Django highly preferred
  • Excellent computer administration skills in both Linux and Windows
  • Demonstrated work experience with Ubuntu highly preferred
  • Strong computer configuration & technical maintenance skills required
  • Prior experience working with SMS applications like RapidSMS or Kannel highly preffered
  • Experience with Java preferable
  • Ability to do basic network wiring and setup preferred
  • Proponent of open source solutions
  • Very comfortable with using Linux
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Must have excellent organisational skills, be self-motivated, be a team player and detail-oriented

2. Business Development Co-ordinator

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • University degree in Business Management, sustainable development or any other discipline relevant to the position
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience in Business Development related field
  • Working experience with central, decentralised governments and NGOs
  • Strong skills in multicultural and multidisciplinary team work with local, national and international partners
  • Strong skills in the use of MS software
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication in English and local language
  • Strong writing skills (reports, articles & publications)
  • Skills in community mobilisation, and sensitisation meetings, with various stakeholders, including civil society organisations, local population, women’s groups, religious and traditional leaders, and the private sector partners

4. Education Co-ordinator

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in teaching or education related activities
  • A highly motivated individual with a professional background to work as field extension agent in Community education systems
  • Skills in community mobilisation and facilitation
  • Practical knowledge and application of community dynamics in an integrated community project
  • Experience working in an integrated community development project
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills in communication and dissemination of knowledge
  • Proven problem solving and organisational skills, flexibility and calm under pressure
  • Computer literate
  • Fluency in local languages
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Must have excellent organisational skills, be self motivated, be a team player and detail-oriented

5. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Co-ordinator

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred from an accredited University
  • At least 3 years of experience in a variety of ICT positions
  • Familiarity with ICT applications in rural Africa preferred
  • Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure and troubleshooting
  • Good understanding ICT best security practices
  • Excellent Windows O/S knowledge on both client and server platforms
  • Basic Linux skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office desktop application support
  • Experience in ICT training is preferred
  • Must have outstanding analytical skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Fluency in English

6.  Infrastructure Co-ordinator

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Degree in Engineering, or other relevant subject;
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an international organisation with experience in working with infrastructure development activities;
  • High level of computer skills, ability to handle basic accounting and ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Knowledge of co-operative laws is an added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English written and Oral
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

7. Gender Specialist

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum of 5 year practical experience in gender equality and promotion of women’s empowerment activities
  • Working experience with central, decentralised governments and NGOs

  • Strong writing skills (reports, articles, & publications)

8. Co-operative Co-ordinator

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Co-operative Management, Business Administration, Management, or other relevant subject;
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an international organisation with experience in working with co-operatives;
  • High level of computer skills, ability to handle basic accounting and ability to learn new applications quickly
  • Knowledge of co-operative laws is an added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

9. Health Co-ordinator

Required Skills or Experience

 

Skills and Professional Experience:

  • The incumbent should have a minimum of health science degree, either Bachelors of Medicine, Nursing, with additional public health education;
  • S/he should have demonstrated broad understanding of international development and public health policy with expertise in public health systems in sub-Saharan Africa;
  • S/he should have at least 5 years of qualification experience with collaborative projects, managing large projects with many partners and stakeholders preferably in international organisations;
  • S/he should have excellent skills in implementation research and data analysis;
  • S/he should have highly developed organisation skills, grants and article writing skills and oral communication skills, in English;
  • S/he should have highly developed organisation skills, grants and article writing skills and oral communication skills, in English;
  • S/he needs good inter-personal skills, leadership skills and managing well in fast paced environment, thriving in multicultural settings;
  • S/he should have track record of having constructive working relationship with senior government officials, academics and technical experts in health and other related or inter-sectoral fields

10. HR and Adminstration Assistant

Required Skills or Experience

 

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, or other relevant subject with proven office management skills;
  • Certification in Human Resource Management or equivalent
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in a closely related field gained in an international organisation;
  • High level of computer skills, ability to handle basic accounting and ability to team new applications quickly
  • Knowledge of HRIMS is an added advantage

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Environment or relevant field; with experience and/or training in both agriculture and natural resource management

  • Practical knowledge and application of community dynamics in an integrated community project
